Drawing again? Meet two of my new characters!

Hey Y’all,

Currently both of my manuscripts “Dear Galaxy” and “Our own little underworld” are in the hands of my editors. It’s been a long time since I’ve been in between projects, while I wait to get my edits back, I’ve been working on some short stories, getting a little creative R&R, making Pinterest boards, and revisiting an old hobby. Last week I started drawing again.

I haven’t really drawn anything since I stopped making my webcomic Pumpkin Spiced a few years back. Call it creative burnout, lack of inspiration, or whatever you will–I just fell out of love with it. Picking up a pencil and sketching wasn’t fun for me anymore.

Recently, I had the urge to pick up my sketchbook again– which quickly lead to digital art. In the evening I’ve been sketching, making animatics, and did this piece based on old simplicity patterns! It’s been a fun way to wind down and relax all while still doing something creative. So, without further ado, meet Olivia and Susie from “Dear Galaxy”

I’ve shared a little bit about this story on Instagram and Twitter. I’ve been writing and re-writing this manuscript for about two years. A draft that I’m finally happy with has been with my editor, soon I’ll be jumping into revisions and hanging out with these cuties again! Here are a couple of fun facts about Olivia and Susie.

Susie Starshine

Age 16

Favorite color Mint green

Job at the school paper “Miss Galaxy” The high school’s secret advice columnist

Hogwarts house: Ravenclaw with some Hufflepuff tendencies

If she could travel to Disneyworld, what would her favorite park be? Magic Kingdom. She would have a schedule planned, know all the optimal paths, have fast passes booked, and know exactly where to find the best snacks.

Biggest flaw? Overthinking and overplanning. Susie likes to live her life by the book.

*********

Olivia Orion

Age 16

Favorite color Yellow

Job at the school paper Olivia writes scathing reviews for movies, books and pop culture.

Hogwarts house: Gryffindor

If she could travel to Disneyworld, what would her favorite park be? Epcot, for all of the shopping and different snacks! She’d want to go during one of the festivals like Flower and Garden! Get her that violet drink!

Biggest flaw? She can really hold a grudge and isn’t great at communing with people who she isn’t close friends with.

What else would you like to know about them? Tweet me your questions at @mrspaigelavoie and lets do a little q&a together!

Stay safe!
